Percepta has been supporting JDRF’s Walk to Cure Diabetes for about 10 years now. With over 750 employees, many have a direct connection to Type One and each year they come up with new ways to fundraise. This year for the 2014 Walk, they outdid themselves and surpassed their goal!
Their main focus is on creative internal fundraising and a little fun competition between departments. Last year a “Penny War” was a huge success. Each department decorated a bucket to collect pennies for points. The team with the most points at the end of the challenge won. The catch was ONLY pennies counted as positive points. All other coins and dollar bills counted as negative points. This, of course, sparked lots of competition between the divisions and raised a total of $1,384.
This year’s “Mardi Gras Casual Week”, where employees who purchased Mardi Gras Dia-BEAD-Eees were able to dress causally all week, was a great incentive and raised $1,500. Two departments even hosted a night at Chuck E Cheese where the community was invited to participate and join in on the fun. Other internal fundraising events consist of bake sales, raffles, and a carwash.
Percepta had about 35 members on their walk team with an overall goal of $5,000. To date, they have $8,275! Way to go Percepta!!
